Suvir Mirchandani

Piano

Suvir Mirchandani, a freshman at Fox Chapel Area High School, studies piano with CMU Professor Luz Manriquez. He has won three silver medals, one gold medal, and a Grand Prize at the World Piano Competition, Cincinnati (2008 to 2012). He has performed three times as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, New York. As a 2013 WQED “Musical Kid,” he was featured multiple times on WQED-FM radio. He performed as a soloist with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra as their 2012 Concerto Competition winner. As a 2011 Steinway Young Artist, he performed in a lobby recital at Heinz Hall. Suvir was selected to participate in a Master Class with Maestro Isaac Steiner and with Korean pianist Haesoo Chun. Suvir has won accolades in regional and state level science competitions and is an active member of Fox Chapel Area High’s Forensics and Model United Nations clubs. His hobbies include photography and cricket. Suvir is interested in using modern computing to foster environmental sustainability.
