Praised by Opera News as having “a lovely demeanor and irresistible creamy timbre”, American soprano Danielle Pastin continues to gain critical acclaim for her engagements across the country.
Ms. Pastin made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Masha in The Queen of Spades in 2011 and was also featured as Frasquita in the Met’s production of Carmen in 2012 and 2013. Ms. Pastin’s recent engagements have included Turandot (Liu) with Nashville Opera, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte (Fiordiligi) with Pittsburgh Opera, Die Fledermaus (Rosalinda) with Opera Naples, La bohème (Mimì) with Syracuse Opera, Otello (Desdemona) with Dayton Opera, and The Merry Widow (Hanna) with Pensacola Opera.
In the 2016-17 season, she will be featured in the world premiere of Three Way with Nashville Opera, in Madama Butterfly (Cio-Cio San) with Northern Lights Opera Festival, in La traviata (Violetta) with Pittsburgh Opera, and in Turandot (Liu) with Virginia Opera. She will also be the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Pastin has performed in the world premieres of Ben Moore’s Enemies, A Love Story (Masha) at Palm Beach Opera, Henry Mollicone’s Gabriel’s Daughter (Lucinda) at Central City Opera, and Markus Fagerudd’s Free Will (Gazardiel) with the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Other performance credits include the East Coast premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Grapes of Wrath (Rosasharn), Otello (Desdemona), The Rape of Lucretia (Female Chorus), and Le Nozze di Figaro (Contessa Almavia) with Pittsburgh Opera; La bohème (Mimì) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and with Santa Fe Opera, Manitoba Opera, Nashville Opera, and Arizona Opera; Don Giovanni (Donna Anna), and Pagliacci (Nedda) with Austin Opera; La bohème (Mimi), La traviata (Violetta), and Le nozze di Figaro (Countess) with Syracuse Opera; and in productions of Carmen as Micaëla with Fresno Grand Opera, Northern Lights Music Festival, and Finger Lakes Opera, and as Frasquita with Dallas Opera.
Ms. Pastin is a recipient of a Sullivan Foundation Award, second place winner of The Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition, and a winner of the Opera Index Vocal Competition.
