Guitarist Joseph Daval is a senior at Quaker Valley High School. He currently studies with Stephen Aron, professor at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. In addition to classical guitar, Joseph’s musical pursuits include jazz guitar and piano, music theory and composition, and vocal performance. As a baritone he has sung in the National Association for Music Education choirs at the district, regional and state level, and last spring won a position in the All-National choir. He regularly performs jazz guitar at local restaurants and private events, and has participated in several Quaker Valley musicals, including a lead role as Sky Masterson in “Guys and Dolls”, which won the Gene Kelly Award for Best Musical in 2012. He was recently selected as a member of the Quaker Valley Hometown High Q team. Joseph plans to continue his guitar studies in college, along with a focus in history and political science.
