Anthony Gray

Piano

Anthony Gray began playing the piano at age six. He graduated summa cum laude from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance where he received the Outstanding Student Award. He completed his Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at West Virginia University where he is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano. He has studied with Cherry Smith, Chih-Long Hu, Esther Park, Ching-Wen Hsiao and Lucy Mauro. In addition to winning the 2020 Pittsburgh Concert Society’s Major Auditions, he was awarded a second prize in the V ODIN International Music Online Competition 2020. Active as both a soloist and collaborator, Anthony has performed in solo piano, vocal and instrumental recitals, opera and musical theatre productions as well as choral and church performances. At WVU, he received a Graduate Assistantship for both his MM and DMA degrees where his duties include accompanying the Opera Workshop as well as teaching private and class piano. In the summer of 2017, he was a Resident Artist at Pittsburgh Festival Opera. He recently returned to his alma mater where he was invited to give an Alumnus Recital in October 2019.
