Anthony Yu

Piano

Anthony Yu was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2015. He is an 8-year-old third grader at Winchester Thurston School. Since 2021, he has been enrolled at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music Preparatory School where his private teacher is William Davidson. Previously, he studied with Lin Chen in Jiaxing, China.  In addition to performing at each semester-end recital at Carnegie Mellon, Anthony won the First Prize at the Golden Classical Music Awards in 2022 and was invited to perform at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall. In 2023, he won Third Place in the Solo Elementary B1 Division at the Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition for Young Artists held in Indiana and also performed in a masterclass with Eric Zuber. Additionally, he was the First Prize Winner of the Children A Group – Piano Duet at the 2023 Pittsburgh International Performance Competition, subsequently receiving an invitation to perform at Geneva College.

Apart from piano, Tony loves math, science, and Chinese. His hobbies include soccer, basketball, and building lego.
