Barbara O’Brien is principal flutist with the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, and the Renaissance City Winds. She is also second flute/piccolo with the Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra. Ms. O’Brien was previously principal flutist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. She has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony, and with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Italy.
Her discography includes solo and chamber music performances with the New Hampshire Music Festival, the Symphony School of America, and the Buzzards Bay Musicfest.
Ms. O’Brien received a Bachelors’ degree in music performance from Duquesne University where she studied with Bernard Goldberg. She received a scholarship from the Tuesday Musical Club, and she also teaches privately.
