Violinist and Composer Devin Arrington holds a B.A. degree in Music from Middlebury College, summa cum laude, and a M.M. degree in Music Composition from CMU. His principal teachers have included Salvatore Princiotti, Yehonatan Berick, Huei-Sheng Kao, and Leonardo Balada. He has performed in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall in New York City to the Great Hall Of The Composers in Moscow and attended Aspen, Bowdoin, and Masterworks music festivals.
In 2004, Mr. Arrington received the First Music Prize for his String Quartet #2 resulting in its premiere at Carnegie Hall and in 2006 he received a Fellowship in Music Composition from the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts. In 2010, Mr. Arrington created the nonprofit Musicians With A Mission to “bring more of Pittsburgh's talented musicians into local healthcare setting.” Today MWAM has a roster of 15 musicians and serves 10 healthcare facilities, giving over a hundred performances each year. In 2018, Pittsburgh’s NPR station featured Mr. Arrington’s work with MWAM as part of its “90 Neighborhoods, 90 Good Stories.”
Mr. Arrington currently maintains a large violin studio in Morningside and at City Music Center, directs MWAM, performs with the Westmoreland Symphony, and freelances in the greater Pittsburgh region. He plays on a Joseph Curtin violin.
