James Cunningham IV and Devin Moore have not only played alongside one another for 5 years, but the two young musicians have become the closest of friends. They study under Pittsburgh Symphony member Marylene Gingras-Roy and have held leadership positions in many ensembles, including Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra, Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Youth Chamber Connection. This past summer, both Devin and Jimmy participated in the National Youth Orchestra of the United States, where they worked with world-renowned musicians such as Emanuel Ax, Christoph Eschenbach, Denis Matsuev, and Valery Gergiev, and performed at Carnegie Hall, as well as in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Montpellier, and Prague. These two busy violists are avid chamber musicians, both at one time holding positions in the Montgomery Fellowship Quartet and attribute much to their individual school music programs at CAPA and Chartiers Valley High School. They have been invited to solo with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra this spring at the May 16 EQT Side-By-Side Concert at Heinz Hall!
Next fall, James and Devin plan to pursue careers in music performance at a conservatory iin order to further their studies and grow as musicians and people, but, most importantly, they love making music together.
