Emily Kocur, 17, is a junior at Moon Area High School. She has been studying piano for ten years at the Carnegie Mellon Music Preparatory School. As a student of Prof. Luz Manriquez, she won 3rd (2017) and 2nd prizes (2019) in the Streator/Smith Competition; 3rd (2018 & 2020) and 1st prizes (2019) in the Pittsburgh International Piano Competition and 3rd prize (2019) in the Steinway Junior Piano Competition. She also performed in the Winners Recital at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2018 and 2019. She won in the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra Concerto Competition and was scheduled to play the First Movement of the Mendelssohn Concerto in G Minor with the orchestra in March 2020 but the event was canceled due to the pandemic. She has been a Steinway Young Artist since 2017 and has played in the pre-concert mini-recital in the Heinz Hall lobby.
Her other interests are drawing and playing tennis.
