Hilary Gamble

Violin

Violinist Hilary Gamble has performed as a soloist throughout the United States, Japan, and Scotland, and is currently in demand as a chamber musician, soloist, and teacher in the greater Pittsburgh area.

She has participated in master classes with Elmira Darvarova, Barnabus Keleman, Pamela Frank, Carol Cole, the Penderecki String Quartet, Lisa Boyco and Almita Vamos. She enjoys playing in regional orchestras and won a position with the Starling Honors String Quartet in 2011, which performed at Heinz Hall and was featured in a concert tour in Qatar.

Ms. Gamble has been granted various awards such as the Walkinshaw music prize, finalist at the Lennox International Young Artist Competition, winner of the McKeesport Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, and winner of the Prelude Awards in the Collaborative and Solo Divisions.

Ms. Gamble enjoys ballroom dancing, spending time with her family, teaching violin, playing chamber music and studying Japanese.

Ms. Gamble received her Master of Music in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and studied under the tutelage of Cyrus Forough. She has also studied at Indiana University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Ms. Gamble graduated summa cum laude from Geneva College at the age of 20 as an Alpha Chi honors student and was a full scholarship recipient at Carnegie Mellon.

Ms. Gamble has been accepted into the Advanced Music Studies program at Carnegie Mellon University for the fall of 2012, where she will pursue viola studies with David Harding.
