Jacob Ujhazy, age 15, is a junior at Hopewell Senior High School. He has been studying piano since age four and is a student of Donna Amato. This past year, Jacob was a student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Pre-College Music Program and performed at the opening ceremony of “Pittsburgh Piano Day.” Jacob was also chosen to perform in “Sewickley’s Got Talent,” part of the Music Plus Concert Series at St. James Church. Jacob was the 2017 PMEA District 5 Piano Accompanist for the Honors and District Choruses. He was then awarded 2017 PMEA All-State Pianist and went on to be one of three pianists nationwide selected to the 2017 All-National Honors Ensemble (NAfME) who performed in Disney World last autumn.
Jacob is the lead snare drummer in his high school marching band and plays piano and percussion in the school concert and jazz bands. Jacob is also a pianist in the Jazz Fusion Ensemble led by Eric DeFade at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.
When he’s not behind the piano, Jacob enjoys being a part of his high school musicals and recently played the role of Aaron Schultz in “Legally Blonde.”
