Jeongwoo Cheon

Violin

Jeongwoo Cheon is a senior at North Allegheny and a student under Rufina Yefimova (M.A. Moscow Conservatory). He is the current concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) and has been an active member since 2019. He performed his solo debut in Heinz Hall as 1st Prize winner of PYSO’s 2023 Concerto Competition, made featured concerts with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and served as principal second violin in the All-Eastern Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he performed as a violinist of Chamber Music Pittsburgh’s Montgomery Fellowship Quartet for three consecutive seasons with the Azure and Armoris Quartet, receiving coachings from Pittsburgh Symphony’s Jeremy Black and winning the Pittsburgh Concert Society Award both as a quartet member and as a soloist. Outside of music, he’s been recognized in several national programming competitions and also competed on NA’s Varsity tennis team. After high school, he will be attending Northwestern University as a Computer Science major and plans to further his violin studies through the Bienen School of Music.
