Juliana Matteo is a 15 year old harpist, and currently a sophomore at Penn-Trafford High School. Juliana has been studying harp for the past 7 years with Gretchen Van Hoesen of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. She is currently a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Youth Chamber Connection Program. She previously performed with the Three Rivers Young People’s Orchestra, and over the past few years, she has participated in numerous concerts around the region including holiday concerts at PPG Wintergarden, Carnegie Music Hall, and many more. Juliana has spent her summers studying at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and has participated in masterclasses with Katherine Siochi, Bridget Kibbey, Heidi Bearcroft, and Ann Sullivan. In 2021, Juliana was selected as the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra young artist competition winner in the instrumental division, and performed in the “Classics in June” concert sponsored by the Soroptimist International of Jamaica, Kingston.

In addition to the harp, Juliana participates in her high school music program where she plays saxophone in the marching band, concert band, and jazz band. Juliana’s interests also include ballet, where she previously danced in feature roles with the Laurel Ballet Performing Company.
