A winner of the 2005 Pittsburgh Concert Society Major Auditions, Soprano Katherine Soroka’s performances with the Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival were acclaimed as “masterful” singing and “heartfelt vocalism”.
Last season Katherine performed a Concerts for Causes benefit with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony. On November 18, 2008 she will perform a concert for the Frick Museum’s Music For Exhibitions. .She has sung on The Silberman Recital Series at Allegheny College, inaugurated the RiverStone Art Center concert series in Foxburg, and performed in recital at Cami Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.
On April 16, 2009 Ms Soroka will sing the world premiere of Rumi Sings of Love by Pittsburgh composer, David Stock, with the Duquesne Contemporary Ensemble. She has performed new music at Aspen Music Festival and in New York City with the Continuum contemporary ensemble, and at Greenwich House, The Kitchen, The Juilliard School, Columbia University and City University of New York. Ms Soroka has sung with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and narrated educational concerts with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. She was seen as Jennie in Stephen Sondheim’s Company at The Pittsburgh Playhouse and has performed cabaret in New York City at Panache and Don't Tell Mama.
