Lara Lynn Cottrill

Soprano

Lara Lynn Cottrill holds a Masters in Voice Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music and a Bachelors from University of Miami, FL in vocal performance. While studying in Salzburg, Austria she was named honorable mention in the University of Miami Salzburg Program Competition in 2004. In 2005, she placed first in the Friends of Eastman Opera Competition. Operatic roles she has performed are Sandrina in La finta giardiniera (Eastman), Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (UM), Papagena in Die Zauberflöte (UM), and Adina in Elisir d’amor (Undercroft Opera). Her professional performances include the choruses of Pittsburgh Opera and Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh where she also performs smaller roles. Ms. Cottrill has given numerous concerts in FL, NY, PA, and VA.  She spent two months in Italy during the summer of 2008 performing, studying music, and learning Italian.  She currently studies privately with Ms. Claudia Pinza. Ms. Cottrill believes music can be an important tool to improve communities and education. She was publicist for an outreach orchestra at Eastman, she gives master classes to high school choirs, presents opera to elementary students, and co-founded the Jubilation Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church. She presently teaches private voice lessons at Geneva College while pursuing a career.
