Matthew Murchison began his position as euphoniumist with the River City Brass Band in June 2002. He studied with Dr. Brian Bowman at Duquesne University and at the University of North Texas, where he received his bachelor's degree (magna cum laude.) Mr. Murchison has played solo performances with professional, amateur, and university groups across the country. His solo performances with the River City Brass Band have been broadcast across the country through WQED-FM Pittsburgh.
Mr. Murchison has been a guest artist/clinician at the US Army Band Tuba/Euphonium Conference, the Northeast Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference, Penn State University, and the College of Eastern Utah.
Mr. Murchison released his first solo CD entitled "Everyone But Me" in 2003 on the Mulholland Records and Music label. He will be releasing two more CDs this fall: a collection of Scottish and Irish folk music, and a CD containing "American Originals".
