Mia Venezia is a first year graduate harp performance student at Northwestern University, studying with Lynn Williams. Previously, she studied with Gretchen Van Hoesen, earning her undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University. Born and raised near Philadelphia, Ms. Venezia began her early musical studies on piano before switching to harp at age 7.
She has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh and Lansdale Symphony Orchestra, Round Top Festival Institute, Brevard Music Center Summer Institute & Festival, and Bowdoin International Music Festival. In 2018, Ms. Venezia was a recipient of the Tuesday Musical Club Scholarship and CMU Archer Award. She is a member of the prize winning flute, viola, and harp ensemble, Tartan Trio, in the Pittsburgh Concert Society’s Major Auditions in 2017. Other acknowledgements include finalist for both the ASTA Strings Competition and Anne Adams Awards, as well as first place winner for the Tri-County Concerts Association Annual Youth Festival’s solo and chamber divisions.
