Mikaela Dassanaike-Perera, is a sophomore at North Allegheny Intermediate High School, Pittsburgh. She began playing piano at age 5 and has studied under Dr. Sha Wang, Chair of the Music Department, Geneva Collage, PA since 2017. Mikaela has excelled in numerous international piano competitions. She won the Pittsburgh International Piano Competition (PIPC) in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 both in duet & solo categories. As a winner of the PIPC, she performed at Carnegie Hall, NYC. multiple times. Mikeal is a Steinway Young Artist of Southwestern PA, 2021-2023. As a Steinway young artist winner, she performed at the Heinz Hall, PA in 2022. One of the major highlights of Mikaela’s music journey is performing at the world-renowned “Mazarthaus” in Vianna summer of 2023. Outside of music, Mikaela is a leading member of the Carnegie Mellon University’s Girls of Steel robotics team and a competitive water polo player. In 2022, Mikaela was awarded the Best Freshman Player in PA, for women’s water polo.
