Peter Howell is a native of Pittsburgh and a recent graduate of the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. Since 2001, Mr. Howell has served as Co-Principal Trombone of the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic under Juan Pablo Izquierdo. He has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony, McKeesport Symphony, Aspen Festival Orchestra, and Pittsburgh Youth Symphony. He was a finalist in the 2005 International Trombone Association Frank Smith Solo Competition as well as the New World Symphony Auditions.
His former teachers include Peter Sullivan, the late B.B. McCulloh, and Per Brevig. Mr. Howell attended the Aspen Music Festival in 2003 and 2004. He studies with Matthew Vaughn of the Philadelphia Orchestra and is currently pursuing his masters degree in Trombone Performance at Temple University.
