Yih-An (Rebecca) Chen starting playing piano at the age of 6, studying with Ms. Barbara Miller in Lansing, Michigan. In 2008, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she continued her studies in piano under Ms. Anne Lin. In 2013 she was the first place winner of the Lois Streator & Lois Smith Memorial Competition and was featured as a Musical Kid on the WQED radio broadcast. Today, Rebecca is 16 years old and a student of Marina Lupinacci. In 2015 Rebecca took 2nd prize in the Advanced A-2 category at the Carmel Debut International Competition and was named a Steinway Society Young Artist. In addition to her abilities in piano, Rebecca also excels at violin. She has been a three-year member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra which rehearses weekly at Heinz Hall. Rebecca also participated in the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) orchestra festivals eventually placing fourth chair in the PMEA All-State Orchestra Festival. Besides her musical accomplishments, Rebecca enjoys playing on the North Allegheny tennis team, leading an undefeated team for two years, volunteering at the hospital, and serving in Living Ministry.
