Roy Xiong

Piano

Roy Xiong, a native of Plano, Texas, began playing the piano at the age of 3 and holds a minor in Music from Duke University.

He made his orchestral debut in Russia with the Kostroma Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Pavel Gerstein, and has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall) and the Musikverein Metallener Saal. Roy has appeared in masterclasses with Abbey Simon, Alessio Bax, Andrey Ponochevny, Enrico Elisi, and Irina Plotnikova.

He has also won first prize at the Enkor International Music Competition, the American Fine Arts Festival’s (AFAF) International Concerto Competition, and the Music Teachers National Association’s (MTNA) Piano Performance Competition.

Roy recently moved to Pittsburgh in 2022 and currently works as a software engineer at Duolingo, where he helps develop the world’s best way to learn a language!
