Sage Po

Harp

Sage Po fell in love with the harp at age 8, when she saw Lisa Stine playing the instrument during a ceilidh, or celtic music gathering, at the home of a family friend.  She immediately began lessons, and after three years shifted her focus to classical music, studying with Laura Porter, principal harpist of the Fresno Philharmonic.  Since then she has performed across the country and been awarded numerous honors for her interpretations of both classic showpieces and new works for the harp.

Miss Po currently studies with Gretchen Van Hoesen at Carnegie Mellon University, where she is pursuing a BFA in harp performance and a certificate in music education.  She regularly performs with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic and Wind Ensemble, as well as with the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra during their summer concert series.  She also enjoys playing chamber music, combining the harp’s unique timbre with instruments such as bassoon, flute, or strings.  After graduating, her goal is to share harp music with a wide audience as a concert artist, harp teacher, and music educator.
