Scott Faigen

Pianist Scott Faigen (YoungArtists 1972) was born in1955 in Pittsburgh,where he studied piano with Ralph Zitterbart and gave his debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony at age 16. He received his bachelor of music degree at the Oberlin Conservatory and his masters degree at the University of Illinois. Active as a soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Faigen has served on the faculties of the National Academy of Music, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Stuttgart Music Conservatory.

For six years Mr. Faigen held performing positions at Juilliard, Sarah Lawrence College and the Aspen Music Festival. He has also served as class accompanist for Itzhak Perlman at the Brooklyn Conservatory.

In 1983,as a guest of the Chinese government, Mr.Faigen spent two months in mainland China as accompanist with violinist Berl Senofsky and as a teacher at the Conservatory of Shanghai.

Concert tours have brought Mr. Faigen to 30 countries.He plays with such artists as Wanda Wilkomirska, Norbert Brainin, Arnold Steinhard, Ulrike-Anima Mathé, Gil Shaham, Midori, Peter Zazofsky and Antonio Meneses. Mr.Faigen has frequently accompanied at the Wienowski Competition in Poland, theQueen Elizabeth in Belgium and at most major competitions in the UnitedStates and Europe. He was a founding member of the Bamberger Trio and since 1989 has been a teacher at the Heidelberg-Mannheim Conservatory of Music in Germany.
