Seungmin Oh, age 23, born in Korea, is a graduate of Seoul National University under the tutelage of Hyeri Yoon. She came to America in 2012 to continue her studies at Carnegie Mellon University as a full scholarship student in Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza’s studio in the Certificate Program.
Seungmin has won numerous competitions including TBC (Tae Gu Broadcast Competition), Ewha Competition and Music Journal Competition. Additionally, she has won top prizes in Yewon Chamber Music Performance Competition, Korean Music Association Competition and Herald Competition.
She performed as a soloist with Seoul Arts High School Orchestra and Kangnam Symphony Orchestra. She also has held principal flute positions in Seoul Arts High School Orchestra and Seoul National University Symphony Orchestra.
Seungmin has had the privilege of playing in masterclasses with world renowned artists including Philippe Bernold, Peter-Lucas Graf and Emanuel Pahud. She has participated in Academie Internationale d’Ete de Nice, Orford Music Academy and Tongyeong International Music Festival. This summer, she will be participating in the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara and in the fall she will continue her studies at Carnegie Mellon University in Master’s Degree Program.
