Shanrong holds a Master’s Degree in Violin performance from Carnegie Mellon School of Music. where she studied with Mr. Cyrus Forough as a full scholarship recipient. She is currently earning an Advanced Music Study Certificate in violin performance.
Prior to her studies in the USA, Shanrong earned her undergraduate education on a full scholarship at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, where she was under the tutelage of Mr. Alexander Souptel, Concert Master of Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Commenting about Shanrong’s progress and performance, Mr Alexander Souptel said “Shanrong plays violin with a lot of passion and brilliant technique, she has a strong and beautiful sound…”
Shanrong frequently gives recitals in the USA, Singapore and China and also performs in orchestras, baroque and contemporary ensembles and chamber groups. Besides playing, Shanrong has a great passion for teaching young kids. In 2012, her 6 years old student won the 2nd place in the American Protégé International Competition of romantic music.
Recently, Shanrong appeared as soloist playing Vivaldi’s “Winter” with the CMU Philharmonic in the 2013 CMU Annual Holiday Concert at Carnegie Music Hall, Pittsburgh, which was broadcasted on WQED-fm.
