Smith Williams

Piano

Smith Williams, a native of Birmingham, AL, enrolled in the Alabama School of Fine Arts to study piano at the age of 12. He is now pursuing an undergraduate degree in piano performance at Carnegie Mellon University, where he is a student of Ralph Zitterbart. Previous teachers have included Monica Horn and Katherine Powell as well as summer studies at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (1998, 99) with Boston University Associate Professor of Music Maria Clodes Jaguaribe. Mr. Williams has won the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs Competition. He was also the State Winner of the Music Teachers National Association Yamaha Competition, and the Grand Prize Winner of the Shoals Symphony Eunice Hoffmeister Concerto Competition. Mr. Williams looks forward to graduate studies and to a career in music.
