Soham Dam is a freshman at Mt. Lebanon High School and studies piano with Professor Luz Manriquez at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. He started playing piano at the age of four and soon fell in love with it.
As a 2017 winner of Pittsburgh International Piano Competition he played at Carnegie Hall, NY at the age of eight. He returned to Carnegie Hall the next two successive years as a winner. Soham won the Duquesne Young Artists National Competition in 2018. He has won the silver medal in 2018 and gold medal in 2019 at Steinway Junior Piano Competition. As a Steinway Young Artist, Soham has performed four times in the lobby recital at Heinz Hall. In 2022 he received Outstanding Artist Award, courtesy of the Melanie Schmidt Memorial Fund, won the first prize for solo in Carmel Klavier International Piano competition and won the first prize in Streator & Smith piano competition. Soham was selected to participate in a masterclass with Spanish pianist José Ramón Mendez in 2018 and David Allen Wehr, Dean, Professor of Piano at Duquesne University in 2022. Soham is a part of Mt. Lebanon High School Orchestra as a Violist and actively participates in all the concerts. Apart from piano, Soham is deeply involved in Math and science, loves German and chess and won many accolades in regional, state and national level. His hobbies include exploring maps and new math topics.
