Thanakarn Limtham

Dr. Thanakarn Limtham is a native of Bangkok, Thailand. He received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Mahidol University, Thailand, where he studied with Dr. Nopanand Chanorathaikul and Dr. Wen-Hui Lin. He received a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied with Dr. Ellen Elder and Dr. Michael Bunchman. Thanakarn recently earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Texas at Austin, studying with Dr. Colette Valentine, Dr. Miguel Campinho, Dr. Tamara Sanikidze, Patti Wolf, and Rick Rowley. Thanakarn has extensive experience collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists, performing in opera and musical theater productions, and playing with big bands, jazz combos, chamber groups, and choral ensembles. He is passionate about encouraging the creative instincts of other people, and his main goal as a musician is to bring healing and comfort through the music that he makes.

Thanakarn moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in June of 2021 to be with his wife, Britney, who was born and raised in the Pittsburgh region. He has really fallen in love with the art and music in Pittsburgh as well as the city's rich sense of history and community. He intends to create an impact on the Pittsburgh music scene by giving recitals and other performances, by composing original works with his wife, and by supporting other local artists. In his free time, Thanakarn enjoys spending time with Britney and their very sassy calico cat, Jao Ying.
