Tina Faigen, pianoTina Faigen, concert pianist, recording artist, teacher, and published music-writer, holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College and both Master and Doctorate degrees from University of Miami where she studied with renowned pianist Ivan Davis. A recipient of many prizes and awards, Faigen is the 1989 Passamaneck Winner of the Pittsburgh "Y" Recital Series, gave over 30 performances of the Tchaikovsky 3rd Piano Concerto with Edward Villella's Miami City Ballet, and was awarded a debut tour of Italy, in performances of the Beethoven Concerto No. 1 with Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzeze.

Recent concerto appearances include performances of the Brahms Concerto No. 1 with DeKalb Symphony Orchestra in Feb. 2017, in Atlanta, and with Edgewood Symphony Orchestra in May 2018, at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Music Hall, in celebration of their 30th Anniversary. This season she has also appeared in collaboration with violinist Catherine Cho for the Pittsburgh chapter of Music for Food, a musician-led initiative to fight hunger. Faigen has also performed for the Steinway Recital Series, Johnstown Music Series, Chatham Guest Artist Series, Chatham Chamber Music Series, Pittsburgh Concert Society, Tuesday Musical Club, West Liberty University, and Wayne State University. She appeared as featured artist on the Carnegie Mellon University special event concert, "Schultz, Faigen & Friends," and has performed live on WQED-FM. An active chamber musician, Faigen is a founding member of Zaffiro Trio which performs regularly in concert and for out-reach programs to benefit the community.

Faigen's CD recordings of Robert Schultz's works "Visions of Dunbar" and "Tina Faigen Plays Piano Transcriptions" have received rave reviews. Faigen is co-author of the acclaimed Accelerando Piano Technique Series, along with numerous other editions of educational piano music. Faigen has maintained an active teaching studio since the age of 14. She is on the piano faculty at University of Pittsburgh and at Carnegie Mellon University Music Preparatory School. Also a violinist, Faigen serves as Principal 2nd for the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra.
