For Trio Nova Mundi, the New World stands for two continents rich in musical culture. The members of this trio bring together musical training and heritage from several corners of the Americas: Rodrigo Ojeda (Venezuela), Maureen Conlon Gutiérrez (Mexico), Kathryn Bates (United States). The Trio promotes music and composers of the Americas, performing established repertoire as well as new or lesser-known works and also supports classical music in Latin-American communities in the USA and Latin America.
Founded in 2001, the Trio has given numerous concerts in Houston, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, and throughout Mexico on several tours, the most recent in June 2008. Traveling to Ecuador in 2002, they appeared as international artists at the Mes Franz Liszt series in Quito, part of the Franz Liszt Academy. 2006 marked their first performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto in Atlanta with conductor Juan Ramírez. Members of the Trio were coached by members of the Guarneri, Emerson, Cleveland, Concord, Tokyo, Ying, and Casals String Quartets as well as the Beaux Arts and Peabody Piano Trios.
