Yunhwa Song, a native of Korea, holds currently the second flute and piccolo chair in the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under music director Myung-Whun Chung. Yunhwa Song has appeared as soloist with the Korean Broadcast System Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Jeju Symphony Orchestra, Astra Philharmonic Orchestra. She has participated in numerous master classes and festivals throughout the United States, Europe and Korea. Yunhwa was a member of the Korean Symphony Orchestra for 3 years, an associate member of the New World Symphony Orchestra of Miami and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She has won many competitions including the Astra Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the Korean Flutists Ensemble Music Competition, the Seoul Symphony Orchestra Music Competition, Sookmyoung Music Competition, Seoul National University Music Competition, Chosun Newspaper Music Competition among others. She received the Artist Diploma in flute performance from Carnegie Mellon University in May of 2008, studying with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza.
