Yunshu Li, celloYunshu Li, 16 years old, is a sophomore at North Allegheny Intermediate High School and currently studies cello with Katya Janpoladyan. Yunshu began her studies with Ms. Janpoladyan in the summer of 2014. Before playing the cello, Yunshu studied violin, playing in the Junior Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra, eventually winning their concerto competition in May 2014.

Yunshu is currently the Principal Cello of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and was also a part of the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras, the Pittsburgh Symphony EQT Student Side-by-Side Orchestra, Honors North Allegheny High School Orchestra, and was Principal Second Violin of the Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra. 

Through the Youth Chamber Connection (YC2) Program, Yunshu is part of the Vivo Quartet, which was the winner of the 2018-19 Montgomery Fellowship. Through this program, Yunshu has had many great experiences, including appearing in the lobby performance for the PSO's concert, "Music for the Spirit: A Concert for Peace and Unity" at Heinz Hall and in the Heinz Endowment’s open conference, "Nonprofits and the Call to Moral Leadership" in November 2018 at the August Wilson Cultural Center.

In addition to music, Yunshu enjoys science and was awarded a second place at Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science for biology. At school, she is a North Allegheny Scholar Athlete, playing on the Varsity Golf Team.
