Anton Jivaev

Viola

Anton Jivaev was born in 1976 into a musical family in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. At the age of seven, Anton entered the Uspensky Special School of Music where he studied violin with Nathan Mendelssohn. After graduation, he was accepted at Tashkent State Conservatory where he switched from violin to viola and completed three years of study with Professor Alexander Polonsky. Next he studied in Duquesne University's Artist Diploma Program in Viola Performance with Professor Randolph Kelly, principal violist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He has substituted as violist with the PSO. Since he won the City Music Center Young Artists Competition, he will perform a concerto with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. As winner of the Duquesne Concerto Competition, Anton performed Hindemith's "Der Schwanendreher" with the Duquesne Symphony in April, 1999. In the fall of 1999, Anton begins studies at the Curtis School of Music with Joseph DePasquale. Future plans include becoming a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician along with performing with his nephew, Daniel Khalikov and sister Elena.
