Russki Quartet is a unique formation for expanding chamber music repertoire possibilities, whereas at one concert the audience might have a chance to enjoy the most beloved Schubert’s Fantasy in F-minor along with the one of Sextets by Brahms, the Septet by Beethoven, or even Mendelssohn's Octet. Not to mention all time favorites, like the Hungarian Dances or Liebeslider Walzer by Brahms, and the Slavonic Dances by Dvorak!
The Quartet performs a varied repertoire of new works and masterpieces of the Nineteenth century alongside more traditional works for the genre. With a growing reputation for performing with tremendous energy and artistry, communication and passion, this group aims to create a rich and varied concert experience with great performances of great music; a stimulating musical experience through inspired programming, lively audience interaction, musicianship and precision of the highest caliber.
Laura, Mikhail, Uliana and Igor, all of Russian heritage, convey a masterful artistic grasp of their repertory, which has expanded from the piano duet medium up to octet repertoire. Their scholarship does not dampen a charming sense of humor, daring technical challenges, nor an innate ability to relate to the audience seated before them, whether in a venerable concert hall or in a small, standing-room-only church.
