Opportunity and Support


The Pittsburgh Concert Society provides a concert performance opportunity and financial support to talented classical musicians — an opportunity found in few American cities. The winning artists are chosen through auditions in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, arranged by Pittsburgh Concert Society, and judged by an independent adjudicator from another area of the country.

Categories

Winning artists are chosen by audition in one of two categories:

Individuals or small ensembles, such as string quartet, piano trio, or percussion ensemble may audition.

Application Dates for Young Artist Auditions

Applications are accepted online January 30 to February 28, 2023

Application Dates for Major Auditions

Applications are accepted online March 1 to March March 31, 2023

Apply Early

The Pittsburgh Concert Society reserves the right to limit the number of Young Artists applicants to the first 35 applications received and the Major Auditions applicants to the first 40 received. Additional applicants may be placed on a waitlist.

Audition Dates

Audition dates, which vary from year to year, can be found on the actual auditions pages of the Young Artists and the Majors.

Residency

All applicants must live within a 75-mile radius of Pittsburgh.

Age Restrictions for Major Auditions:


Eighteen years and older.

Age Restrcitions for Young Artists (Instrumentalists):

19 years or younger as of June 30 of the year of audition.

Age Restrictions for Young Artists (Singers): 

22 years or younger as of June 30 of the year of audition.

Program

The program prepared for the audition is expected to be the same program for the concert.

Fee


A non-refundable application fee must be included with your audition application. The fee is $50 for Major Auditions, and $35 for Young Artist Auditions.
