Young Artists Concert – April 27, 2025 *3 PM*

Shuma Hoppo is a 15 year old freshman at North Allegheny Intermediate High School. He began to study the violin at the age of 5 with his mom. He has studied with Huang Guang Jia and Charles Stegeman in the past and currently studies with the Assistant Concertmaster of the PSO, Dylan Naroff. He has participated in several competitions such as the Duquesne Young Artists National Competition, American Protégé International Competition, Pittsburgh International Performance Competition, and OSAKA International Music Competition. Recently he won in the senior division of the PYCO Youth String Competition. He is also part of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Ellie Tang has been playing cello for 8 years, currently she studies cello with Adam Liu pop the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Ellie attends North Allegheny Intermediate High School as a sophomore, she is a participant in the school orchestra, as
well as in other extra curricular activities such as Speech and Debate and the Junior Classical League.
Outside of school, she has been a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2021.
As of 2025, she will also be attending member of the State PMEA Orchestra.

Muhan Zhang comes from China. She is a sophomore majoring in Piano Performance as a student of Dr. Peter Amstutz at the School of Music at West Virginia University. Muhan began learning to play the piano when she was four years old. She has won awards in many competitions domestically and abroad, including winning the Group of Primary at the Helen International Piano Competition at the University of Utah and the Group of Juvenile at the Piano Concerto International Competition in Auckland, New Zealand. Muhan loves the instrument and enjoys performing on stage to share her passion for music.

Alexander Fu started piano and violin lessons at 6 and 8, respectively.  He is a piano student of professor Sung-Im Kim and violin student of professor William Van Der Sloot, a violin professor also at Carnegie Mellon University.

Alexander made his debut as a semi-finalist in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition at 6. By age 8, he had secured third place in the 2015 8th Shanghai Youth International Competition. His accolades continued: third place in the Crescendo International Competition in 2017, a third prize in the Great Composers Competition Series 2020 for Best Mozart Performance, and a second prize in the 2021 Mediterranean Europe Series. Further, Alexander earned third prizes in both the Enkor International Music Competition and the Pittsburgh International Performance Competition (PIPC).  His dedication culminated in a breakthrough year in 2024 when he won first prize at PIPC, became a Young Artist program winner for the Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania (SSWPA) to be invited to play in the Heinz Hall lobby, and received an honorable mention at the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Competitions.

Alex also plays the violin as both a soloist and an orchestral leader. In 2024, he earned second prize as a soloist at the New York International Music Competition (NYIMC). As an orchestral musician, he has been a committed member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) for years. He was selected as the concertmaster for the PMEA District 1 Orchestra and as a first violinist for the PMEA All-State Festival in 2024.

Alexander has also passion for chamber music. As the pianist for the Ammolite Trio—a group featuring violin, clarinet, and piano—he brought home first prize in the 2024 PIPC and third prize at the NYIMC.

Tabitha Mo, is a Freshman at Carnegie Mellon University, where she studies flute with Professor Alberto Almarza. Most recently, Tabitha received first prize in the DePaul National Concerto Competition Winds Division in 2024, first prize in the senior division of the Chicago Flute Club Competition in 2023, and was the winner of the Woodwinds MYA division for the 2023 Walgreens Concerto Competition. She has also won first prize in the Chicago International Music Competition Young Artist Division and first prize in the Society of American Musicians Intermediate Division in 2022.
Tabitha has been featured on Classical WFMT’s Introductions with Robbie Ellis and has performed as a soloist with the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra, Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra, and most recently, Midwest Young Artists’ Symphony Orchestra at The Pavillion of Ravinia.
In past summers, she attended the Interlochen Summer Orchestral Program, where she participated in chamber music and orchestra. She was also part of the Performance Division of Jim Walker’s Beyond the Masterclass, performing in classes with Jim Walker and Marianne Gedigian in Malibu, CA. She has also received coachings and performed in masterclasses with Professor Jonathan Keeble, Anthony Trionfo, Alyce Johnson, Austin Brown, and James Galway.

Clementine Constantino, is a Freshman at Carnegie Mellon University, where she studies with Professor Gretchen Van Hoesen. When Clementine is not performing with the Carnegie Mellon ensembles, she plays harp with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra. Clementine was also previously chosen to perform in Nassau County All-County Orchestra and Band as a Pianist in the Symphony Orchestra and a Harpist in the Concert Band in 2024 in New York.
Clementine has also worked on Long Island, New York, as well as Pittsburgh in several local theater production pit orchestras including works by Rogers and Hammerstein such as Oklahoma!, Cinderella, and The Sound of Music, and Jule Styne’s Gypsy. She has also recorded music to be featured in the 2025 Lunar Gala, a fashion show run by the students of Carnegie Mellon University.
Clementine attended the Young Artists Harp Seminar in 2023, where she received coachings from Ellie Kirk and performed in masterclasses with Susan Bennett Brady and Nancy Allen. She has also previously studied harp with Kristi Shade and Janet King.
